A Few Videos and Some RHC Changes

I'm just now starting to get caught up to the world that is Rickey, after being out of the loop for a few weeks with work, school, and vacation (Hawaii was awesome!). I haven't posted to the site in a little while, but I have been posting much more frequently to the newly created Rickey Henderson Collectibles Facebook page.

I've found that posting quick articles, videos, and comments is much quicker and easier on Facebook than on the main site. If you haven't yet become a fan, please do so, as I don't want any followers to the blog to miss out on anything.

I will still post all of my new card and collectible acquisitions to the site, as well as the random video and article, but most of these will now be reserved for the Facebook fan page.

For those that missed them, here's some of the recent videos that I've posted:

Rickey talks about basestealing and visiting Raley Field, which he compares to Major League stadiums during his early playing career

While working as a roving instructor for the A's, Rickey threw out the first pitch at the Stockton Ports game on April 17th

Rickey and "The Batting Stance Guy"

I hadn't heard of "The Batting Stance Guy" until this morning, but he's surprisingly accurate. He was on Letterman last night, and supposedly can imitate any stance in baseball history.

On Letterman, he started out with impressions of Manny, Big Papi, and Cal Ripken, and then moves on to Rickey. The Rickey portion begins at approximately the 5 minute, 30 second mark of the clip. Enjoy!

CSN-CA Legends Series

Comcast SportsNet California recently began a new series titled "Legends," and they started it all off with an in-depth look at Rickey Henderson. To begin, I'm ecstatic that the A's have a new TV deal with CSN-CA, as their previous deal really sucked. I was lucky if one game per week was on TV here in Sacramento, and now I get almost all of them!

So, not only do they allow me to watch the A's, but they started off a new series with a special on Rickey as well! I actually haven't gotten a chance to watch all of it yet (it premiered on April 20th, and has been on a few times since then), but from what I've seen it's been pretty interesting!

The show is going to be on again April 28th at 8:30pm as well as April 30th at 7:00pm. This are all PST, and most of you guys probably don't get CSN-CA, but fortunately there are some clips available on the website.

A short clip contemplating why the A's might have traded Rickey to the Yankees in 1985.

Rickey Henderson - "One-of-a-Kind"

A few of Rickey's teammates (Dave Stewart, Terry Steinbach, Carney Lansford) and coach Tony LaRussa talk about playing with Rickey.

Rickey comments on how he'd like to be remembered as a ballplayer.
